Inspiration: Tease Me...Please Me...Love Me...

So I wanted to start a new series of blog posts discussing the inspiration behind the mixed media pieces that I've created over the past two years.

One of the mixed media pieces that took a long time to come together was Tease Me...Please Me...Love Me as it took on many forms before the final you see on the website.  I don't like to play favorites amongst my creations but I do love this one in particular for a large number of reasons, one of which being it took over 12 months to finally present it's final self.

One of the main inspirations was Jean Michel Basquiat and paying homage to him based on the Radiant Child movie that started me on this path.  If you have not watched this movie, run don't walk to watch it.  I've included a link to Amazon where it is available on Prime Video.

The other inspiration was a recent books I purchased Nikki Giovanni's "Love Poems" and "A Good Cry".  The poems spurred me and made me think about what is Love and how do we honor it every day.

My final inspiration was/is always the Frida Kahlo soundtrack.  It is sublime and one of my top 5 movie soundtrack albums to play over and over while I create.
